father/daughter dance
i was wondering everyone's opinion about the song i have in mind..."wonderful tonight" by eric clapton. the reason i was giving this song consideration is because the only time i remember ever dancing with my dad was to this song in the 80's at a relative's wedding, i was real little & had to stand on my dad's feet to reach his hands. {i have a teary eyed grin right now remembering it} the reason i wanted opinions is because i was wondering if it's appropriate (my spelling is off, i know) because the song is about a couple. i guess i shouldnt really care about what people think, but i dont want raised eyebrows, heh. thanks!

Progress Post...
We have 272 days to go, (9 months last friday) and seeing as how i'm off work today I thought i'd post some pictures of what we have so far. There are quick a few pictures behind the cut, definately not dial up friendly! We have alot booked so far including both venues, photographer, videographer, etc. so not doing too bad all in all really. It's now just the details to iron out and order FH and the groomsmen's tuxes which unfortunately the company has NO pictures of on their website so I shall be taking my camera to take some pictures next week. IT'S ALL OVER
I was married on the 28th June. It went by so fast. Ladies enjoy your time wedding planning. I will do a review of all my vendors and will post photos once i get my professional ones - shouldn't be to long. i just have to say - it was the best day every, and in the end you don't care if everything goes to plan or if you forget to do something, at the end of the day you are just happy to be married to that man standing across from you!!!

I had yet another idea for favors. I wonder if I'll stick with this one! Going to the Jersey shore was a bit part of my childhood. It was something I looked forward to every year. Then I thought...... ( salt water taffy from the Jersey shore ) You can buy 3 pounds of taffy for $26.49, from http://www.seashoretaffy.com, now I just need to figure out how much I'd need to buy. |

I'm a Mrs!!!
One of the best days of my life! I'm finally married and SO happy about it. Everything went super well and every time I think about it, it brings a smile to my face. I don't have the pro pics back yet, but some photos of the day taken by guests... everything was more beautiful and more perfect than I could have imagined!

Okay...so centerpieces. I had this plan, and it was EPIC, buuttttt due to the cost of candle holders of an odd size, it all came crumbling down. So, after days of random thoughts, my mum called me all excited. Went something like this: Me: Sup? Mum: Huh? Uhm, are you busyyy? Me: We're walking to dinner, but no I can talk, what's up? Mum: CENTERPIECES! Me: Uh, yes? Mum: Pictures! Of you guys! Baby James and Carly with random facts, double sided maybe? How cool is that?! And it's NOT NORMAL! Right? Whatdya think? Me: *laughs* Sure, we can roll with that I think. Now I am sure this could be done sweetly, and it could also be done very poorly. What I was thinking is you know how you can get lil metal guys to stick pictures in? Like this have a base and then the wirey metal and they have clips at the top or just a piece to hold the pic? I was figuring we could stick em in those, but what are they even called? Or, some sort of double sided picture frame? Any other ideas? Mum also thinks that the facts will be SO GREAT that people will want to mingle and check em out. Either way, I love baby photos. :) I would love to have like us throughout the years or something, but James does this lots: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=74535&op=3&o=user&view=user&subj=508784331&id=508784331 So us and serious photos...well, they don't exsist...he starts the faces and I can't help myself... |

Breakthrough and a question
We figured out what to do with my nieces who are our flower girls/junior bridesmaids. The younger one (9 years old) will sing ( The Fun Song )(which is a favorite of mine, my boyfriend, and hers) while we sign our marriage license. We're debating weather or not to have my dad accompany her on the yukalaylee. They have a whole act and should go on the road. We want the older one (13 years old) to do a reading. But I'm having trouble picking one. Anybody have a suggestion for a reading that is 1. lighthearted (this follows the FUN song) 2. at a reading level suitable for an 8th grader (no "hath" or "Laistrygonians") 3. where she doesn't try to explain the deeper subtleties of love to us? Maybe something about friendship? I'm kind of digging "The book of Love" because it sounds like my niece is talking but is reading song lyrics to emo? Oh dear! ( The Book of Love ) |

wedding video!
I got married awhile ago (11/11/07) but we JUST got our wedding video! We were at the end of all the summer weddings, so it took a little while, but the wait was SO worth it. CLICK HERE TO WATCH IT The main reason I want to share it though, is to stress how HAPPY I am that we invested in video. It is, hands down, the best money we spent. The pictures are a close second, but this definitely takes the cake. Our videographer was absolutely amazing in every way (so fun to be around) and it's so wonderful to be able to share our wedding with everyone, including those who couldn't make it. Plus there are so many moments that I couldn't imagine NOT having captured...My brother almost died and was hospitalized for 5 days after a severe asthma attack the week of my wedding. He was released THAT MORNING, and the moment he stepped off the elevator was one of the most emotional moments of the entire day. I've watched the video more than 5 times now, and cry every time. This is the "movie" version, but we also have footage of our whole ceremony, the toasts, the cake cutting, the nerdiest first dance EVER, and random other priceless dance footage. If you're even considering a videographer, let me tell you...it is SO worth it. If you're in Oregon, this is a big recommendation for Ryan. You won't be sorry! |

So I posted before about a necklace I got for my dress. I also posted that I wanted to find a nifty beaded victorian style choker, and I got some amazing suggestions from you guys. Thanks! I ordered a choker and I LOVE LOVE LOVEEE it... I showed it to FH and he thinks it's pretty "busy." I agree, but I think that it looks good with the beading of my dress. There's only some on the top kinda, and some on the bottom. I think the dramatic necklace balances it out more. What do you guys think? ( Pictures under the cut. ) I'm also going to be adding the cross from my original necklace (click for pic) to the bottom bead of the middle dangly part of the choker. :D |

Results of my hair trial and help with a necklace
I had my hair trial today. It turned out, in my opinion, perfect. I wanted it comfortable, off my neck, and not straightened. It'll have a gerbera daisy or two pinned in one side. BTW, this is all my own hair (a couple people asked, including my sister). My hair is jaw/chin length. Proof that an updo is totally possible with shortish hair! Behind the cut, see pictures and my dress! ( Read more... ) It was 30 for the trial and will be 35 for the day of. Very reasonable. If anyone is in the Tempe, AZ area, and looking for a stylist, just let me know. Now I'd love if anyone had ideas for a necklace for it. My earrings will be very simple studs in yellow gold with diamond chips. There's a tiny bit of vintage-looking gold showing in the setting. They're heirlooms and not negotiable, so anything I get for a necklace should go with. That said, they don't need to be diamonds, by any stretch, as I'm not really a fan and the diamonds aren't prominent enough to be showy. Any advice is welcome, even if it's just an idea of what kind of shape of necklace will be flattering. BTW, the dress will be a light ivory, this is a sample. Thanks in advance! |

My centerpieces are glass fish and seashells, so I need some sort of quote to put on the table markers involving fish/shells/both. Any advice? |

My First DIY wedding craft
Awhile back I bought The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding and this week I did a trial run of one of the crafts I am considering for the wedding: a cupcake stand. Since we are considering having cupcakes for the wedding we could really save some money by not renting a cupcake stand from the bakery. So, using three cake boards, some scrapbook paper, a glue stick, hot glue gun, 2 pint glasses, 4 shot glasses, and my mediocre crafting skills I made ( this . . . ) X-posted to my personal journal and wed_pdx

Shade Question
I've checked the tags, but this is sort of a random question - I know some of you summer brides were purchasing parasols for your guests - has anyone had any problems with people not being able to see? Alternatively, has anyone used market umbrellas? Thanks!! |

Time Minus 21 Days - Centerpieces & BM Bouquets finally done!
Well with work & wedding planning the bunny is being neglected. :\ But I have made some (but not enough) progress! First things first, our centerpieces. I got the glasses at Pier One for $2.50 each! My FMIL has laid claim to them after the wedding. Which I figured she would they match her decorative dish set perfectly. The candle in the picture is probably not the ones I will be using. I'm still trying to find cheaper candles. The silver is just your generic glitter.
Secondly, I've finally finished the BM bouquets...I hate them but I don't have time to redo them. >\ Plus at the moment I may not have any Bridesmaids...but that's another rant I'm saving for after a few shots of Jack. The bases are stitchwitched satin ribbons. I've ordered my scrabble blocks for my "memorial" They are to go on my bouquet. The persons pictured are: a) my grandfather, whom if it wasn't for lung cancer would have been the one giving me away. b) His brother, my Uncle Bill, who passed away this past year. I also had one made, that says "Amb" & "Dante" which is me & FH's internet handles. ;) I ordered them from Etsy (of course) seller: DesignsbyAppleTree. I will post the real thing when I get them! :) These are just pictures of my dorky FH, less than amused about being prodded at while trying on suits. >P I have begun putting together the candy table as well. I'm running out of money though so a lot of it has to wait. This is what pieces I have together so far. The larger pieces need to be polished. The table will also be adorned with plastic dino's, which my FH loved as a child. (Which....if you have any you would like to sell....I need more! >.<) Also, target smarties bags are larger than Walmarts....and subsequently a better deal! :P I also received my veil this week! I ordered it from Veils by Roxanne, and I can not recommend her enough! I couldn't find a mantilla veil that didn't have a bunch of lace on it...and she came through! Her turn around was excellent & the product is fantastic! For reference this is bridal illusion tulle in ivory with a scalloped pencil edge. :) |

were back!
We are exhausted! Will update on Monday and post pics of the wedding. We got back from Maldives this morning and have just got back from a friends wedding. So glad to be able to sleep in my own bed after 3 weeks :D. For now I will leave you all with a teaser of our wedding day, the first dance. Some of you may remember the practice lessons on the run up to the wedding :) ( June 18th wedding dance ) |
